The Roman Forum & Colosseum

The Roman Forum was economic, political, religious hub, town square, and city center of Rome dating back to 7th century B.C. That’s where all Caesar, the Senators, noblemen, and the like hung and made power moves. It’s got crazy history…and some of the buildings are still standing today.

The Colosseum was built in 80 A.D. as an amphitheater to hold gladiator combat games and wild animal fights. It was made out of marble. But when the Roman Empire fell, the marble was stolen recycled by the Church to build the Vatican (as you’ll see) and other churches in Rome.

This was a bucket list destination for me. It was very exciting to see all the history that dates back to before Christ.
