In October 1997, Bernie and I blazed trails and went on a 3-week honeymoon to Europe We covered Malaga, Spain; Oberstrofen, Germany…with day trips to Innsburck, Austria and Zurich, Switzerland; Milan, Italy, and lastly, the Canary Islands.

That was waaaay too long! By week three, we were getting on each other’s nerves. We recorded our globetrotting adventure on an old school VHS mini-cassette camcorder (that was new technology back then). My mother dubbed it, The Heath & Bernie Show.

Fast forward 18 years later. For Bernie’s upcoming birthday, we decided to go to Rome. I found a perfect 10-day land-and-sea tour of Europe…starting with a 3-day tour of Rome, and then a 7-day cruise around the Mediterranean on Norwegian Cruise Line’s ship, Epic. We had a ball!!! The sites, the sounds, the food, the history…the Paris terror attack while we were in France! Ekkk!!! Thank you Jesus for traveling mercies!

We invite you to come with us as we tour Rome, Pisa, Florence, Cannes, Nice, Monaco, Monte Carlo, Naples, and Pompeii; and the all crazy highlight of tomfoolery that took place on the ship. We dubbed this tour…The Heath and Bernie Show Pt. 2.

The Arrival in Rome

After a long transatlantic flight crossing 6 time zones, the jet lag is real. We arrive in Rome around 9:30am CET (Central European Time), catch the shuttle to the hotel, only to find out that our room won’t be ready til 1:30pm CET. Blown! So we hit the streets to check out the local Roman scenery.
