After Jill Scott’s said this, every man needs to read the book His Leadership Her Trust if you don’t want to be EATEN ALIVE by a strong black woman.

It’s not a game. Strong black women are not to be trifled with. They have been forged through the burning sands of struggle, adversity, oppression, and discrimination. They’ve had to fight for everything they achieved…socially, politically, sexually, economically, relationally, and parentally. Over the last 3-4 generations, after WW II, black women’s experience has seen the men in their lives exercise their option to stay or leave, participate or not participate, contribute or not contribute, parent or not parent. Their inability to feel secure and depend on the roles men play in their lives (i.e., their fathers, boyfriends, co-parents, or husbands) has required them to Darwin-like evolve into a fiercely independent woman…wielding the control and power she’s amassed over the years. (please know…I’m not hating on black men…I’m just chronicling the majority of black women’s plight.)

The longer this cultural dynamic exists, the more it is normalized as the status quo. Power-centers therefore shifted. Wherein once…being a single woman was looked at as a transitional inferior status. Now, women have attached education, money, and influence to that status…and turned it into an equalizing force. So now…women are the one’s exercising their option to determine what role…if any…a man will play in their lives.

And this is the seat from which Jill Scott sits and spits rhythms and opinions about what role a man will play in her life. Because of her strength-thru-struggle…in life and in love…her magnanimity requires a man that’s not scared of her. Meaning, he’s not intimidated by her beauty, education, money, or influence. And he’s not scared to say what he feels because he knows what he says has value to her life. Therefore, any man who wants to step to Jill Scott…or step to any strong black woman…your life experiences and confidence must be such…that…whatever you say and do must add value to her life. #HisLeadership

If you ain’t comin’ with a deeper level of knowledge, wisdom, love, and overall sophistication than she already has, then the control and power she amassed and the skill with which she wields it will eat you alive! And you, Sir, have no role in her life. But, if your experiences and confidence are such that you have what it takes to tell her what to do…and she finds what you say and do valuable to her life, then you, Sir, have earned the right to tell her what to do – and may assume the role as her man. #HerTrust

MEN: If you want to be able to tell a woman what to do, then what you say and do had better have some value to her…otherwise…you’ll have no role in her life and she will eat you alive.
